Terry M. Brain completed life’s journey Friday, November 20, 2009, and is now resting comfortably in the Lord awaiting His return. Terry was born July 27, 1937 in Newton, Iowa, the only child of Willard and Vera Brain. He distinguished himself early with a talent for understanding electronics and worked his way through Iowa State University by working summers in the local electronic repair store. After graduating as an electrical engineer in 1959, he headed to Mansfield, Ohio, where he worked for several engineering firms. He and Carol were married in 1962. Professionally, he started out in the development of new electrical protection systems. Then he moved into the design and improvement of home appliances, most notably the home slow cooker or Crock-Pot that is found in most homes today. However, his proudest moment came when he watched the lunar rover carry our astronauts across the moon. He had worked on it as a testing engineer during the initial development of the Apollo moon missions. Terry passed on his deep interest in learning to his children and grandchildren, along with his passionate commitment to family and his deep love of our Lord. May we all live up to the standards he set through his gentle example of how to live. “Keep your sight on Jesus so we can live together for eternity.” Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Carol Ann Sauder Brain. She is supported in her grief by their children and their families, Mark and Melody Brain, Steven and Patricia Brain, David and Lilly Brain, and Beth and Norbert Andrus. Together they gave Terry the joy of his and Carol’s life, 10 grandchildren. |
