Keene -- Ivanette Woodall Hopps passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at home in Keene, at the age of 93. She was born October 26, 1916.

 Mrs. Hopps’ funeral service is 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, in the Chapel at the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church, and interment will follow in the Keene Cemetery. The family will receive guests Friday, January 8, 2010, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Crosier Pearson Funeral Home in Cleburne, 512 N. Ridgeway.

 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to the Herbert M. and Ivanette Woodall Hopps Museum at Southwestern Adventist University, P. O. Box 567, Keene, TX 76059.

 The daughter of James K. and Nancy Jannet Wallen Woodall, one of the oldest families in Keene, Ivanette Woodall attended Southwestern Junior College. She married Herbert M. Hopps – also from a pioneer Keene family – in Marietta, Okla., in 1933.  After their marriage, they attended Madison (Tenn.) College, where they became registered X-ray technicians, and in later years, both became licensed nursing home administrators. Herb was president of Hialeah Hospital in Miami, Fla.

 An independent businesswoman in her own right, Ivanette was a building contractor in Washington, D.C. and in Fort Lauderdale, and later owned and was administrator of an Avon Park, Fla., nursing home.

 They retired to Keene in 1984, where they were members of the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church. Herb and Ivanette had been married for nearly 64 years at the time of his death in 1997.

 Mrs. Hopps is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Mary Ellen Hopps of Temple, Texas and her son, James K. Hopps of Keene. She is also survived by her grandson, Gary Hopps and his wife, Alexandria, of Fort Worth; grandson, James M. Hopps and his wife, Joy, of Henderson, Ky.; granddaughter, Eryn Hopps, of Keene; and four great-grandchildren, Emmaline, Emerson, Evan and Maxwell Hopps of Henderson.
