Vinita, Calif. -- Sarah Ellen (Ward) Burton, 92 year old resident of Vinita, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

 Services were Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at the Ketchum Seventh-day Adventist Church, with Elder John Moyer and Pastor Perry Flerchinger. Burial followed at the Military Cemetery. Visitation was March 26, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Burckhalter Memorial Chapel, Vinita, Okla.

 Sarah was born June 7, 1917, to John Lindsey Ward and Eliza Nora (Bishop) Ward in Gatesville, Texas and attended school at Rhea Mills School in Collin County. She later became a nurses assistant because she loved taking care of people. Sarah loved cooking for family and friends. Her hobbies were sewing, knitting and crocheting.

 She was faithful to attend church and enjoyed working in the church in California and in Oklahoma. Sarah was a member of the Ketchum Seventh-day Adventist Church.

 Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Orben Rawlings, the father of Ella; her second husband, Hugh Manes, her third husband, Otha Luster, and Ray Burton, to whom she was married the last 13 years of their lives and preceded her in death on January 28, 2010; one grandson, Bret Edward Hammond; a brother, Ed Ward and sisters, Bonnie Howard, Virgina Weems and Mary Clark. 

 Survivors include her daughter, Ella L. Hammond and husband, William, of Buellton, Calif.; son, Harold Burton and wife, Florence, of Cleburne; daughter, Betty Brautigan of Vinita and daughter, Mary Kraft and husband, Don, of Vinita; eight grandsons, Cecil Hammond of Buellton, Calif., Gregory Hammond and wife, Stephanie, of Manifee, Calif., Emery Brautigan and wife, Chen of Shanghai, China, Charles Brautigan and wife, Heather, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gary Kraft of Vinita, Kevin Kraft of Vinita, Brian Kraft and wife, Nicole, of Parson, Kan., Barry Brautigan of Vinita; two granddaughters, Suzanne Permaul of Tulsa, Okla., Michelle Wynn of Cleburne and thirteen great grandchildren.

 Arrangements were under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home in Vinita, Okla. 918-256-6444
