Crowley -- Betty Lohman Benson, 88, of Crowley, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010, in Crowley. A celebration of her life by her family and friends was held in her home Saturday, April 3, 2010. Betty was born August 5, 1921 in Grand Junction, Colo. to Daniel Grover and Effie Rose Weaver Lohman. She married Grady Calvin Benson on December 24, 1941 in Denver, Colo. A Literature Evangelist salesperson of Bible books for the home for over 20 years, Betty was a member of the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mrs. Benson was very proud of her two grandchildren, Betina Tagle-Edwards with the U.S. Navy and Chief Warrant Officer Zane Heavner with the U.S. Army in Iraq, serving their country proudly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Calvin Benson on April 30, 1999; her parents; two brothers; three step brothers and one sister. Betty Lohman Benson is survived by daughters, Gradie Lee Wetmore and husband, Bill, of Cleburne, Barbara Keightley and husband, Stan, of Salem, Ore.; sons, Gene Benson of Portola, Calif. and Robert Benson of Crowley; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; brother, Manford Lohman and wife, Delores, of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Florence Parker and husband, Billy, of Ruidoso Downs, N.
