 Keene – Spencer Gordon, 73, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010, after an eighteen-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

 His memorial service is 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010, in the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church inKeene.

 Spencer was born August 14, 1936 in Onawa, Iowa to Calvin and Nell Beem Gordon and grew up in Cuba, Costa Rica and the United States. In 1957 the family was living in Keene, where Spencer met Mary Alice Gordon. They fell in love and were married December 23, 1957 in Portales, N.M.

 In 1997, Spencer became the first patient at Loma Linda University Medical Center to receive a new brain stimulation device. An hour after his operation, he showed immediate improvement, resulting from electronic signals sent through the wire implanted in the left side of his brain.

 Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Alice; daughter, Shari Harriss and husband, Dwight; son, Chuck;

grandson, Mikey Harriss; granddaughter, Missey Harriss; sister, Lavona Gillham; brother-in-law, Johnnie Firestone and wife, Betty; 6 nieces and 1 nephew; 6 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.
