Keene -- Bertha Smith Walker passed peacefully Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Services were Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. at Frist Funeral Home in Clinton, Ind. Interment followed in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Clinton. Bertha was born on October 19, 1931 in Clinton, Ind. to her parents, Garrard Smith and Lucy Wages Smith. She lived in Keene, Texas with her husband, Harry Russell Walker and her son, Gary Lee Walker. She was a strong woman of faith who trusted in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The greatest joy in her life was her family, especially talking with them about life, faith and hope. Her love of her family was shown through giving selflessly to her family and friends. She enjoyed mentoring others to help them reach their goals. Bertha will be greatly missed by her family and friends in Texas, Pennsylvania, Florida and Indiana. Bertha was a third generation Master Herbalist and wine maker. She was an accomplished painter and also loved studying Scripture. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Harry Russell Walker and her siblings, Grover Smith, Harlen Smith, Chelsie Clark and Garrard Smith. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Harry Russell Walker; her surviving children, Deborah Ellen Wright and husband, David, of Grove City, Pa., Larry Russell Walker and wife, Karen, of Kopperl, Texas, Lucy Ann Herndon and husband, Mark, of Grove City, Pa. and Gary Lee Walker of Keene, Texas; grandchildren: Isaac, Andrew, Sarah, Ellie Wright; Shawn, Ashley, Robi and Rusty Walker; Jeremiah and Joshua Wann, Rachael and Zachary Herndon and 16 great-grandchildren.
