The Chisholm Trail Academy varsity and junior varsity Blazers and Lady Blazers are four of 48 basketball teams representing 21 Adventist academies from across the nation entered in the 17th annual Southwestern Adventist University Hoops Classic that started Wednesday on the Southwestern campus and five other sites in Johnson County.
The tournament is divided into four divisions based on school size: boys large schools, boys small schools, girls large schools and girls small schools.
The CTA Blazers and Lady Blazers varsity teams play in the large schools division, while the CTA boys and girls’ JV teams play in the small schools division.
Games began Wednesday at 4 p.m. on two courts at the Leiske-Pultar Gymnasium on the Southwestern campus, at CTA and at Keene High School.
Games will also be played at Keene Junior High School and the Burleson Recreation Center.
Each team will play a minimum of five games, but only the first three opponents are confirmed at press time. Subsequent opponents, game times and sites depend on the outcome of the first three games.
Here is the schedule for the CTA teams as of press time Wednesday:
• The Blazers varsity plays Forest Lake Academy of Apopka, Fla.,  at 9:50 a.m. today at SWAU; at 2:30 p.m. today against Spencerville, Calif., at Burleson Recreation Center, known as BRiCk.
• The Lady Blazers varsity plays Forest Lake at 8:40 a.m. today at SWAU; against Spencerville at 1:20 p.m.

• The Blazers JV team plays Valley Grande at 11 a.m. today at the BRiCk, and Jefferson Academy at 3:40 p.m. today at the BRiCk.
• The Lady Blazers JV team plays Valley Grande Academy at 7:30 a.m. today at the BRiCk, and Mile High Academy of Denver at  noon today at the Burleson Rec Center.
In addition to CTA, other teams include Andrews from Michigan, Burton Adventist Academy, Collegedale from Tennessee, Dallas Christian, Highland View, Forest Lake from Florida, Garland, Highland View of Hagerstown, Md., Hinsdale from Chicago, Jefferson from East Texas, Mile High from Denver, North Dallas Academy from Richardson, Oakwood from Alabama, Oaks from Houston, Ozark from Arkansas, Sandia View from New Mexico, Shenandoah Valley from New Market, Va., South Texas, Spencerville from California, Spring Valley of Dayton, Ohio, Takoma from Washington, D.C., Tampa from Florida and Valley Grande of Weslaco.
Each team is guaranteed five games during the four-day tournament.
Game times on Friday and Saturday depend on the results of the Wednesday and Thursday games.

The JV championship games will be played simultaneously at 10 p.m. Saturday at the Leiske-Pultar Gymnasium, followed by the varsity championship games at 11 p.m. The award ceremony will  follow the championship games in each division. Awards will be presented for the all-tournament team in each division, most outstanding player or players and a spirit award, which will be presented to the school demonstrating the best sportsmanship.
