The Keene ISD school board learned Monday night that the outdoor track will not be ready for use until sometime in mid February.
Dale Parker, a principal with W.B. Kibler construction company, said excessive moisture has caused problems and a 30-foot section of the track has to be removed.
“We’ll take off the asphalt and dirt and try to find the problem,” Parker said.
The $1.75 million outdoor track was supposed to be completed for use in August or September.
In a continuing issue with the White Building, the board decided to contract with NCM Construction Co. to demolish the five-decades old structure for $25,870.
Board member Dan Roberts said he thought the board voted Dec. 12 to have Todd Morgan Demolition Company destroy the building for $27,000.
Board president Sheri Hadley said the board only discussed having Morgan demolish the building and did not vote on it.
Roberts wondered why board meetings aren’t electronically recorded.
